Gingivoplasty (gum contouring)

We refine the gum line, reduce a “gummy smile,” improve symmetry and hygiene. Local anesthesia, meticulous technique and predictable healing.

What it is

  • Minor soft-tissue surgery: sculpting the natural gum contour.
  • Often paired with veneers/restorations for an ideal smile line.
  • Performed under local anesthesia, atraumatically.
  • Micro-instruments/electrosurgery may be used for precision.

Why it’s done

  • Aesthetics: symmetry and proportion between gums and crowns.
  • Function: easier hygiene around restorations.
  • Periodontal health: removes excess tissue retaining plaque.
  • Preparation for prosthetics/orthodontics with a stable margin.

How it goes

  1. Planning
Photo analysis, smile line marking, STA anesthesia.
  2. Reshaping
    Atraumatic recontouring with bleeding control.
  3. Finish
Edge smoothing, fine sutures or coagulation, instructions.
  4. Review
    Check-up at 7–14 days; micro-adjustments if needed.
