Dental bridges: assess the supports before the restoration
A bridge replaces a missing tooth or section of the dental arch and is retained by supports. For a tooth-supported bridge, root condition, remaining tooth tissue, gums and load distribution matter. At MasterDent in Pozniaky, these factors are assessed before preparation; material selection is not based on appearance alone.
Conventional tooth-supported bridges, adhesive designs and implant-supported bridges have different indications. Do adjacent teeth need preparation?
Supporting teeth for a conventional bridge are usually prepared for crowns. Adhesive bridges have different indications; an implant alternative is discussed before preparation.
How does a bridge differ from an implant?
A tooth-supported bridge rests on natural teeth. An implant is placed in bone and supports a restoration through compatible components. The choice depends on the clinical situation.
Which material should I choose?
Bridge span, load, bite, appearance and material limitations are considered. Not every ceramic is suitable for every bridge.
Is root canal treatment always needed first?
No. Root canals are treated when indicated, not automatically before every crown or bridge.
Will I need a temporary bridge?
The need and type are decided during planning. A temporary restoration can protect prepared supports during fabrication.
How do I clean under a bridge?
Your dentist demonstrates superfloss, interdental brushes or other tools appropriate to the design. Cleaning the outer surface alone is insufficient.
How much does the complete bridge cost?
The estimate includes the number of units, material, support preparation, temporary restoration and fixation. One crown price does not represent the full bridge.
What if the bridge becomes loose?
Arrange an examination and do not use household glue. Fixation, the supports and restoration integrity need to be checked.
